The first One-Day Monday Newbury Showground Antiques & Collectors Fair has proved to be extremely popular with both the trade and public, with many stallholders enjoying themselves enormously and reporting brisk business.
Though iacf have been organizing Antiques & Collectors Fairs at the Newbury Showground for a couple of years, Monday March the 26th 2018 was the first time a one-day Antiques fair had been held at the location. The venue had proved successful as a Friday & Saturday - two-day - Antiques event during 2017, so much so, that the Newbury Showground will now play host to four Antiques events during 2018.
The sun shone on the showground, and it finally felt like spring had arrived after the long cold winter which seems to have afflicted the country this year. This, of course, brought out the shoppers in their droves, and nearly everyone was seen leaving with precious items tucked underneath their arms, and with the boots of their cars bulging with antique furniture and salvage items.

"Newbury Showground is a fantastic location for our Antiques & Collectors Fairs, with excellent facilities, an indoor area, and tree-lined walkways - all making for a very relaxing and enjoyable day antique collecting." said iacf Managing Director Will Thomas. "It’s great that the new trade-focused Monday Fair has proved to be so popular with the public too, and we believe it will grow in a similar way to our Runway Monday event at Newark."

There were antique, salvage and collectable items of every description on display at the event, and with a large indoor area housing many of the more delicate items, there was certainly something for every taste and budget. Beautiful and colourful glassware, paintings, Doulton Lambeth series-ware, bronze statuettes and jewellery - were all items that seemed to be catching the shopper’s eyes in the hall. While salvage and garden items, along with furniture, ephemera, and mirrors, all seemed to be popular on the outside pitches. Maybe the promise of the long-awaited spring finally arriving has meant that people’s thoughts are turning to re-decoration of their homes and gardens.

Looking forward to the weekend Newbury Fair, which will take place on 28th – 29th April, Managing Director Will Thomas commented: “The number and quality of the stalls for the first one-day event at Newbury is very encouraging, and we’re sure that the Saturday and Sunday Fair will be even busier, with advance stall bookings looking very impressive.”
Just off Junction 13 of the M4 (see map below), and with acres of parking, this Antiques fair venue has to be one of the country's most accessible by car. With stalls inside and out, it's a favourite location for filming BBC's Bargain Hunt, and with the range and quality of items being sold it's easy to see why. These growing fairs are sure to become regulars in all antique hunter’s diaries!
The remaining 2018 Newbury Antiques Fair dates:
Sat 28th - Sun 29th April; Mon 14th May; Sat 7th - Sun 8th July.
