David Harper meets David Biggins from Dusty Spiders at the Festival of Antiques

David Biggins and Mary Bell make up ‘Dusty Spiders’, who joined forces because of their love for antiques & collectables and interesting & unusual items! David Harper visited Biggins’s stall at the Festival of Antiques to take a look at some of their interesting and unusual items they are have on offer. One item catches David’s eye in particular, a Japanese, articulated and original crab from 1868. The crab has a very delicate bone, meaning you have to take great care of this piece of animal history. Bone can be a controversial subject for many collectors, as David Harper discusses. What do you think? Do you appreciate the craftsmanship and detail that both David Biggins and David Harper appreciates? Comment below your thoughts… David was selling this Original Japanese Crab for £800 at the Festival of Antiques, but David thinks that he could sell it for around £3,000, showing how incredible the deals are at the Festival of Antiques, and all the wonderful and interesting items you can discover for deeply discounted prices! People often think that they cannot afford antiques…but you can! David gives us one of his fabulous Antiques Top Tips: “If you have a piece of Lalique Glass, then it will either be signed Lalique or R.Lalique. If it’s R.Lalique then it was produced when the founder of Lalique (Ronnie Lalique) was alive and when he died in 1945, they stopped adding the R to the signature. So if your Lalique says R.Lalique, then you know that it was made pre 1945. The example Lalique glass shown in the video is 1930. Find more interesting and rare items at the Festival of Antiques.
