Searching for the owner of unknown artist paintings is what being in the art industry is all about, as David Harper expresses at Newark Antiques Fair this December. David Harper, artist and antiques expert, visited Newark Antiques Fair to speak with iacf antiques dealers about their incredible items for sale.

In particular, David talks with Richard Laker from YouNeedArt.co.uk about an unknown artist painting, hoping that viewers of the video and readers of this blog can help Richard find out more about the unknown artist…
Richard has a great eye for antique art and always purchases interesting artwork for his customers. David Harper joins Richard at Newark Antiques Fair and asks him to tell us a little bit more about the painting.
“The only surviving detail is there (Richard points to the artists’ markings at the bottom left side of the painting), the initials are ‘J.V’, from the northern Spain – south of France – regions.
“I own about 30/40 of these multi-coloured, beautiful sketches in charcoal, some in pen and ink, and some in watercolour! But I have never ever to this day, found out who J.V. is!”
David says how we need to find out who the artist is, desperately! “You can sense and feel the sun burning through and we need to know who J.V is, someone might have known this person!”
Richard expresses how so far it is just a mystery, which is such an exciting thing about collecting art. Richard is selling the painting for £150, including the beautiful frame too.
If you know anything more about this painting, then please contact our team so we can put forward your details to Richard, and hopefully find out some much desired information on this artist!
